SIGHTSEEING

As alumni arrived we would take a peek at our surroundings. Here are some of the sights from Vancouver, Victoria, and environs.

This plaque outside City Hall commemorates the city's namesake, George Vancouver. We arrived in time for his birthday!

The Plaza 500 hotel was formerly an apartment building. This helps explain why the location was ideal. Many conveniences were nearby like this shop, a kind of Canadian version of Trader Joe's.

City Hall sits just across the street from the Plaza 500.
Vancouver is a very dog-friendly place.
Arthur, the waiter at FigMint restaurant, is from Zamboanga. Sometimes it truly is a small world.
Holy Rosary Cathedral, downtown Vancouver.

Vancouver Art Gallery was showing the "Monet to Dali" and Ping collections.

Steveston was a Japanese fishing village from where most Japanese-Canadians were uprooted during WW II and relocated to the Interior. Some returned and it's now a tourist destination with the best fish and chips in Vancouver (Pajo's and Dave's).
"Cupcakes" on Broadway has clever names for each flavor.
